Every homeless dog dreams of a loving family and a peaceful home, yet many stray dogs find it challenging to realize this dream. Such was the case for a forlorn Pomeranian named Marshmallow, who had lost faith in happy endings and concentrated solely on survival on the streets of Los Angeles. Wandering onto the railway tracks without direction, the fluffy stray unknowingly put himself in harm’s way, as the train tracks became his makeshift home. Would anyone come to save him?
Rescue Mission On Train Tracks
When Rosario Ortiz, a compassionate volunteer rescuer, found Marshmallow sleeping under an industrial storage container, her heart sank. She reached out to Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, for assistance. Hall arrived an hour later and noticed that Marshmallow was still peacefully asleep.
After setting a trap with tasty treats, Hall hid at a distance to prevent startling the pup. When Marshmallow awoke and caught a whiff of the delicious food, he headed toward the trap. However, just as he was about to enter, an unexpected scare caused him to flee down the train tracks. Fearing for his safety, Hall and Ortiz quickly jumped in their cars to follow him.
The Scared Pup Finally Feels Secure
Eventually, Hall and Ortiz managed to corral Marshmallow in a fenced area. They quickly set up baby gates and blocked his escape route until they could safely approach him. When Ortiz finally secured him in her arms, both rescuers were ecstatic. Initially confused, Marshmallow began to understand he was safe once Hall calmed him and loaded him into her car.
“The best part was when he knew he was safe, he could hardly keep his eyes open and laid all the way to the back of the trap. He didn’t have to live on the railroad tracks or sleep hiding under that trailer ever again. He was rescued,” Hall shared on Facebook.
Hall transported Marshmallow to Camino Pet Hospital for a medical checkup and a soothing bath. Fortunately, he was healthy and soon moved to a foster home, where he received the time and care he needed to adjust. Marshmallow quickly felt content, finally enjoying a cozy home and the love of amazing humans.
It didn’t take long for Marshmallow to show his true personality; he turned out to be an absolute love bug.
“Marshmallow is the biggest cuddle bug ever. He is beyond happy to be saved. He just cuddles into your arms,” Hall told The Dodo.
We all hope this sweet pup finds his happily ever after soon.
