For a dog, nothing compares to the joy of a walk, aside from eating, drinking, and cuddling with its beloved human. The sounds of a collar jingling and the front door opening bring excitement; new sights, scents, and encounters with people are all thrilling adventures for our canine friends.
There’s no denying that the Labrador is the quintessential walking dog. Still, there are always exceptions, and Bruce the lab stands as a perfect example.
Bruce isn’t averse to walks; he simply has his own boundaries that he’s not afraid to express, often in the most amusing ways. His owner’s girlfriend, Amy Nicholson, witnessed this firsthand when she decided to take him for a stroll one day.
A Valiant Effort

Amy Nicholson did not hesitate when her boyfriend asked her to walk his family dog, Bruce, one day. She believed it would be a straightforward task, assuming all dogs enjoy stretching their legs.
She even imagined playing fetch and running alongside him, given that Labradors are known for their zest for physical activity. Her plans were laid out, but it soon became clear that this would not be a simple endeavor.
Lazy Bruce began to show his true colors much too early. Amy recounted to Newsweek that Bruce started “walking really slowly” once he felt he’d had enough. While she quickly deduced what he was up to, she was determined to see their walk through.
Bruce, however, had other ideas and opted for a more theatrical approach. He dramatically lifted his left paw and feigned pain, locking his eyes onto Amy. Although he almost had her fooled initially, Amy soon recognized the ruse.

“I checked his paw, but after just two minutes, he was back to his normal self anyway. He’s attempted this a few times, but he’s truly the sweetest boy,” Amy shared.
Initially annoyed by his antics, Amy ultimately found his behavior endearing. This led her to record one of Bruce’s paw-raising moments and share it on her TikTok account.
The Internet Went Wild
While Bruce might not have succeeded in getting out of his walk, his comical act made him an internet sensation. Amy’s video garnered rapid attention, and TikTok users were utterly captivated.
“Social media has gone wild, and people are smitten with Bruce,” Amy remarked.
The video, humorously titled “You don’t fool me Bruce! Does anyone else’s dog do this? 😂”, sparked a flurry of responses. Here are a few noteworthy comments:

“That looks so painful! You better carry him home and treat him like royalty (better safe than sorry),” teased popular account @weratedogs.
“My dog does this, too! Sometimes he forgets which paw hurts and switches between them. 😂,” shared another user.
Another quipped, “Hollywood is calling 📞.”
Although Bruce may not have successfully duped Amy, he might eventually pull off his trick on someone else. Alas, thanks to this viral video, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to fool anyone for a while.
