When people consider abandoning their puppies, the typical solution is to surrender them to a shelter, thinking it alleviates their burden. However, this is not always straightforward. Shelters can be overcrowded, and in moments of desperation or frustration, some people may choose to cruelly abandon puppies on the street, leaving them to fend for themselves until they’re discovered. What’s In The Box
One particularly hot day, a resident from Anson County, North Carolina, stumbled upon a green box at the edge of the woods. As they approached, they discovered five small puppies trapped inside, left behind in the sweltering heat, with little chance of survival if not rescued quickly.
The puppies were too fragile to escape the box on their own, requiring immediate assistance. Fortunately, the Good Samaritan was able to take a crate, gather all the puppies, and provide them with food and water to help them regain some strength before seeking further help.
A Brand New Chapter For The Pups
The next crucial step in their rescue involved transferring the puppies to the Rescue Dogs Rock NYC vet partner in North Carolina. Jackie O’Sullivan, a representative, shared with The Dodo that the puppies were weak and dehydrated, with a strange odor. One of them appeared quite ill, raising concerns about parvo. Thankfully, after receiving fluids, baths, and proper nutrition, all five puppies started showing improvement.
The vet determined the puppies were approximately six weeks old and gave them names: Sullivan, Snoopy, Sanders, Simon, and Sassafrass. They underwent a complete checkup, received vaccinations and fluids, and were dewormed. Subsequently, their health improved significantly.
O’Sullivan remarked that the puppies were fortunate to have been found in time. After their recovery, they were placed into foster care, eagerly awaiting adoption. Though it remains unknown if they found their forever homes, it is hopeful that someone has stepped in to give these precious puppies the love and care they deserve.
