“When life hands you lemons, turn them into lemonade!”

Life can take unexpected turns; one moment you may be thriving, and the next, you find yourself facing a significant challenge, fighting for your very existence.

This scenario can befall anyone, yet how you respond can significantly impact the outcome.

This little pup arrived at Stray Rescue of St. Louis following a severe car crash, which left her with a serious spinal injury.

To put it bluntly, her prospects were grim, with minimal chances of survival.

Nonetheless, she radiated vitality, and her bright eyes sparkled with an undeniable joy, compelling her rescuers to give her a chance.

She Deserved A Chance

Ramone entered the Stray Rescue of St. Louis animal shelter with a catastrophic injury after being struck by a vehicle, which rendered her paralyzed and fighting for survival.

The outlook seemed bleak for little Ramone, yet something within her stirred the hearts of many to advocate for her life.

Her spirit was so fierce that the idea of putting her down was unbearable, prompting them to offer her a fighting chance, which she eagerly embraced.

“This delightful puppy was brimming with joy. It amazed us how she wanted to play with a ball, have her belly rubbed, and shower us with kisses,” shared Stray Rescue of St. Louis in their Facebook post.

The surgery was incredibly complex, with veterinarians doing everything within their power to save her.

Fortunately, the operation was a success, and Ramone exhibited remarkable progress on her road to recovery.

A few months passed, her wounds healed, and she was ready to embrace her puppyhood. Nothing could hold her back, not even her paralyzed hind legs.

As her back mended, she regained mobility and began to run freely, despite her paralyzed rear legs.

Her caregivers noticed that her paralyzed back legs hindered her movement, leading them to make the tough choice to amputate both rear legs and her tail for her to have the best quality of life.

She healed well from the amputation, moving about effortlessly as her front legs strengthened each day.

“This incredible, resilient princess embodies the spirit of a warrior. She doesn’t wallow in self-pity. In fact, she’s oblivious to her differences. She’s one of the happiest souls we’ve ever encountered,” the rescue conveyed.

Everyone cherishes little Ramone, showering her with new toys daily. Stuffed animals are her absolute favorites, and she loves to strut around with them.

“At 7 months old and weighing around 20 pounds, she is simply perfect as she is. She’s curious, playful, and friendly with all. She deserves everything – the moon, the stars… and all the stuffed animals in the universe,” they stated.

Ramone is a true testament that being a little different is perfectly okay. The most vital part is embracing life with gratitude.

Currently, Ramone is adjusting to walking on her two legs, and as soon as her doctors approve it, she will receive custom wheels.
