Lady’s journey is a testament to the fact that love can lead you to a forever home.
This stray Pittie stole the hearts of the Memphis community simply by being the most affectionate girl! When compassionate volunteers discovered her in front of a local store, she greeted them with a joyful wag of her tail.
Though she was homeless, Lady behaved as if she’d spent her whole life with a loving family. She was polite, friendly, and utterly charming. However, when the volunteers learned more about her past, they were taken aback.
The Sweetest Companion
Josh and his team at All 4s Rescue League in Memphis, Tennessee, initially thought Lady was just another stray dog wandering the streets. But they soon realized this sweet girl had a plan.
She spent several days trailing a young girl, as if she had picked her favorite human to follow closely.
While waiting, Lady lounged comfortably on the ground, greeting everyone who walked by. And she clearly adored Josh too!
“We met this sweet girl who had followed her friend to the store. Oh, she loved Josh!! She curled up next to him, what a sweetheart,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Josh couldn’t resist taking a selfie with Lady and spending some time cuddling with her. Lady was incredibly gentle and relished in the pats and belly rubs.
The rescuers decided to contact the girl’s family to learn more about this unexpected companion.
Unexpected Home
It turns out that Lady’s story began when she first followed the girl home, forging a bond that led to regular visits. Eventually, the girl’s family decided to take Lady in permanently.
Their connection was pure love. Lady was so affectionate from the get-go that she quickly snuggled her way into their hearts and home. It took just a few days for her to convince them to adopt her officially.
Since then, this formerly stray dog has been living with her new family and her new brother, another Pittie named Diesel.
The rescuers were overjoyed to see Lady thriving in her new home. They also offered to vaccinate both pups, as the family needed some monetary support.
The mother expressed her intent to keep Lady in the long run, but she mentioned needing some records for animal control.
“The mom is ready to keep her if we spay and vaccinate her so she has proof for animal control,” the rescue added.
That day, both Lady and her new brother received their vaccinations. Moreover, they placed Lady on the list for affordable spay surgery.
The rescue did everything in its power to ensure this dog’s transition to a forever home was as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Seeing how much love Lady shares with her new doggie and human siblings, it would have been heartbreaking to separate them. Therefore, the rescue made every effort to prevent such an outcome.
“The kids adore both of them and have a blast playing in the yard. Now they are obsessed with training them to sit. It’s the beginning of a beautiful relationship,” stated the Memphis rescue.
Today, Lady, Diesel, and their family share a life filled with joy and adventure, and they couldn’t be happier!
