Tennessee Rescuers Stunned to Uncover the Cause of Mysterious Noise Coming from Dumpster

Date:

A Good Samaritan, hearing unusual noises from a dumpster, quickly recognized those sounds as the cries of a needy dog. They contacted Tullahoma Animal Shelter, prompting two rescuers, David Reed and Chris Cabral, to rush to the scene.

Upon inspecting the dumpster, the rescuers were devastated to find a puppy trapped inside a tightly bound white trash bag, unable to breathe and silent. Despite their fears, Reed and Cabral quickly used a net to extract the bag, cutting it open with urgent anxiety. To their horror, they initially believed they were too late to save the pup, who lay still without movement.

“[H]e was not moving, crying or barking. When he began to breathe, they immediately contacted one of our veterinarians in order to get him emergency care,” said Cheryl Rhoads, Tullahoma Animal Shelter animal control manager, according to The Dodo.

The rescued puppy, later named Oscar, was expedited to the veterinarian, where he received lifesaving subcutaneous fluids, medications, and a much-needed haircut. Initially weighing six pounds, his weight dropped to four and a half pounds after the vets removed severe mats from his fragile body. Thankfully, once in a nurturing environment, Oscar showed immediate improvement in his health and appearance.

Oscar’s improvement continued as he adapted to the new loving environment, exhibiting a healthy appetite and a joyful demeanor. After receiving proper care, he developed a sassy personality, enjoying snuggles in blankets and preferring to be held on his terms.

New Life

Oscar remains part of an ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances of his abandonment, meaning he is currently not available for adoption, despite numerous offers. Thankfully, he is being fostered by a loving family, dedicated to ensuring his complete recovery.

While Oscar may not be fond of taking his medications—like eye ointment or his bottom cream—he thoroughly enjoys burying himself in cozy blankets for his naps. His rescuers are thrilled to see him transform from a frightened pup on the brink of death to a lively dog now relishing in life.

Final Word

Sadly, Oscar’s case is not unique, as many animals suffer from abandonment. Countless pets are cast aside by their owners, left to navigate the harsh realities of life on the streets. This is simply unacceptable.

If you find yourself unable to care for your furry companion, please take them to a local shelter and give them a chance at a better life. They deserve love and care.
