For one Golden Retriever in Pennsylvania, that connection was unwavering.
Upon seeing his owner tumble down a 20-foot slope in the Pittsburgh area, this brave pup leaped into action, understanding that his cherished owner might be in peril.
What he did next amazed the entire online community and earned him the title of “hero”—a title he most definitely deserved!
Heroic Act
The day started like any other for this Golden pup and his owner until an unexpected incident occurred. While hiking, the man lost his footing and tumbled twenty feet down a hill.
In shock, the man attempted to find a way out of this critical predicament, but he was unsuccessful.
Despite his best attempts, he was unable to get back up due to what turned out to be a significant hip injury. He simply lay on the ground, too incapacitated to call for assistance.
That’s when his incredible Golden Retriever stepped in, demonstrating the true capabilities of his breed!
Upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, the dog sprang into action. He hurriedly dashed to the neighbors to inform them of the unfortunate event occurring just a short distance away.
When the neighbors arrived and saw the man in distress, they immediately called Ross West View Emergency Medical Services Authority.
Throughout this time, the Golden Retriever stayed by his owner’s side, determined to remain until help came. He was fiercely loyal, hoping for a reunion between the two.
Emergency medical personnel were on the scene within minutes, stabilizing the injured man and providing treatment on-site. Following that, they utilized a rope system to safely transport him to the local trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a severe hip injury.
The EMSA team shared an update expressing their deepest appreciation for everyone involved in the rescue, including the local Police Department, Department of Public Works, fire departments, and ultimately, the loyal dog.
After the rescue operation, this courageous pup was rewarded with some tasty treats and a much-needed bowl of water!
“A heartfelt thank you to this patient’s dog who signaled to neighbors for help. The pup remained by the patient’s side until he was safely taken care of. He was also rewarded with treats and a big bowl of water on that sweltering day,” the rescue service mentioned in a Facebook post.
Positive Outcome
Thanks to the tireless efforts of this devoted dog, everything turned out positively.
The man received proper treatment at the center and was finally reunited with his anxious canine companion.
