The role of a dog rescuer is never-ending. Once you fall in love with these furry companions, you’re committed to saving them for life, even if it entails undertaking some heartbreaking rescues. This is the guiding principle of California animal control officer Rudy Pina, a seasoned rescuer who has encountered some truly shocking situations, including dogs abandoned in the most unexpected places.
One day, during a routine inspection at a local motel in Fresno, a housekeeper discovered a puppy hidden in one of the rooms. It’s unclear how long this adorable Pittie had been hiding there, but it was evident he had been abandoned, waiting for his human to return.
Hiding Behind A Bed
Sadly, the little pup remained trapped between two beds in a room devoid of food or water, patiently waiting for an owner who never returned. When Pina arrived, the frightened puppy peeked out cautiously from behind the bed, only to retreat in fear upon seeing a stranger. However, as Pina spoke to him with gentle words, the pup began to warm up and realize he was about to be rescued.
Within moments, the puppy relaxed completely, rolling onto his back and demanding belly rubs as if they had been best pals forever.
Pina shared a lovely moment with the abandoned pup as they cuddled together before he gently lifted him into the kennel in the back of his vehicle.

Looking For A Home To Call His Own
As they made their way to the Fresno Animal Center, the pup experienced his first car ride which turned out to be spectacular. Initially placed in a kennel, he quickly found himself in the passenger seat beside Pina, who wanted him to feel comfortable and relaxed. Upon their arrival at the rescue, the young pup was given the necessary care and attention.
Pina described the motel pup as a super friendly and happy-go-lucky dog. He posted on TikTok, “Puppy abandoned at Motel6 on Blackstone in Fresno. Super handsome VERY friendly Pitty. He is currently at the @Fresno Animal Center waiting for his forever home,” inviting anyone interested in fostering or adopting to contact the shelter.
For now, the puppy will receive care at the facility, but with his adorable personality and sweet character, he certainly deserves a loving home rather than spending his days at the shelter. “Please reach out to the shelter if you are interested in fostering, adopting or know a rescue!
