One touching story originates in Ohio, featuring a dog named Oakley, who unexpectedly discovered his forever home. This sweet boy was on a heartfelt search for love, and when he finally found his perfect family, he revealed a delightful secret!
Discovered wandering the streets of Kentucky, Oakley was rescued and brought to a shelter after a lengthy search for the right family. The Adopt A Pit Rescue eventually found him a home with Hollis and Jerry, a couple from Ohio. “They found him roaming the streets in Kentucky, and after fulfilling the necessary requirements to find a family, our rescue brought him to Ohio, where we adopted him,” Hollis shared with GeoBeats Animals.
The couple instantly fell for Oakley because he was incredibly affectionate and easy-going. Remarkably well-behaved, they often questioned whether he had really been a street dog. Given his unclear history, they were unsure if he had a previous home. Oakley responded perfectly to commands and appeared to be crate trained.
This good boy had countless surprises that left his new parents in awe. Jerry and Hollis felt extremely fortunate to have such a “naturally trained” dog, especially with their busy schedules as medical students.
Though Jerry had never owned a dog before due to family allergies, for Oakley he would gladly do it again!
“I can deal with runny nose and itchy eyes any day of the week if it means I get to have someone like Oakley around all the time,” says Jerry.
This sweet boy brings laughter to mom and dad daily. He doesn’t care about his size or being a non-lap dog; his greatest joy is cuddling or being carried, simply to be near them.
After being away for over a month for work, Jer ry returned home to overwhelming affection from his favorite boy. Nevertheless, it seems that Hollis has a special bond with Oakley. Despite being adored by both, Oakley is a true mama’s boy.
When Hollis’s grandmother recently passed away, Wilson was her faithful companion. “I feel like he could just instantly tell that something was different, and as cheesy as it sounds, he would lick away my tears,” shares Hollis.
Oakley enjoys socializing with other dogs, meeting new people, and embarking on adventures. He’s winning hearts everywhere he goes, and he does it effortlessly! Ultimately, however, his most cherished spot is his loving home, where he has finally felt the warmth of love. After everything he encountered on the streets, experiencing true love is invaluable!
