Pennsylvania Rescuer Proves This “Scary” Dog Is Actually the Sweetest with a Simple Toy

Date:

Green Bean was brought to the Pennsylvania SPCA after being rescued from a dog fighting operation along with 32 other dogs.

While many of his fellow canines quickly found forever homes, Green Bean sadly lingered in the shelter for more than two years. You might wonder why.

This Pitbull carried the burden of arbitrary labels—seen as a villain, something to fear, or even a monster.

Though he had a gentle nature, Green Bean seldom got the opportunity to show his authentic personality…

Transforming From ‘Scary’ To Adorable

Rachel, a volunteer at the Pennsylvania SPCA and an animal advocate, was one of the few who recognized Green Bean for his true nature—a remarkably sweet and affectionate dog.

From the first moment she laid eyes on him in the shelter, she felt an undeniable connection.

Like others, she believed that Green Bean remained unadopted for two long years primarily due to his past, because otherwise he was an ideal companion.

“He always greeted everyone with a smile. The fact that he spent two years in the shelter is unbelievable, yet he still showed happiness whenever he saw you,” Rachel remarked to GeoBeats Animals.

Regardless of the hardships he endured, Green Bean remained a joyful and cheerful soul patiently waiting for affection by the kennel bars.

“He would approach you with his tail wagging and a big smile on his face. That’s how he said hello,” Rachel continued.

During his time at the shelter, they developed a close connection. Rachel frequently took this gentle pup for outings off the property, which he absolutely loved.

He was always well-behaved on the leash, relishing the opportunity to explore different scents.

“People kept labeling him as dangerous, but I never felt threatened by him, not once,” Rachel stated.

Whenever Green Bean spotted a toy, he would absolutely light up, almost like a child on Christmas morning having the time of his life.

He’s just a small dog cherishing his beloved toy.

The Journey Home for Green Bean

Rachel has always believed that Pitbulls are incredibly affectionate dogs despite their negative stereotypes.

“Many people overlook these dogs because they are afraid. They immediately assume, ‘oh, it’s a Pitbull, it must be aggressive’, but that’s far from the truth; it really depends on their training,” Rachel added.

After two prolonged years at the shelter, Green Bean was finally welcomed into a nurturing home that could shower him with plenty of love, treats, belly rubs, and toys.

Although Rachel felt immense joy and pride for him, she couldn’t shake a hint of sadness at leaving behind the dog with whom she had forged a deep bond.

She expressed her feelings in an Instagram post:

“I’ll never forget the last time we went out together. He didn’t want to return to his kennel, and I told him, sweetie, this is the LAST time I have to put you back here. I will miss you, but for the best possible reason. I hope this isn’t a goodbye, but a see you soon in your new home ❤️.”

It is my hope that this sweet pup is finally enjoying the life he always wished for.
