Honey’s journey began under unfortunate circumstances, but her spirit remained unbroken. Even during the darkest moments, she held onto hope that someone would rescue her and offer her a loving home.
Despite her previous abandonment, this resilient dog displayed remarkable courage. Confined to a small kennel, she was preparing for her most significant mission yet – motherhood.
Then, hope appeared in a shape that forever changed her path!
Terrified and Ill, She Urgently Required Assistance

Steph, a long-time foster and founder of Steph’s foster pups, came across a heartbreaking video of Honey, previously known as Sugar Bear, at Lancaster Animal Care Center in California.
Her sorrowful gaze and urgent demeanor struck a chord with the foster, prompting her to take immediate action.
For the first few days, Steph visited Honey regularly, aiming to instill hope in her troubled heart. Unfortunately, Honey was incredibly fearful and traumatized.

Honey had nearly lost her faith in humanity and lacked the will to form new connections. On top of that, she was just days away from giving birth, constantly huddled in a corner, instinctively trying to protect her future pups.
Nevertheless, she sensed a flicker of hope in Steph’s presence and gradually began to open up.
After welcoming eight beautiful puppies into the world, Steph made the decision to take Honey home. The two needed constant care, and staying at the shelter was not an option.

“We are immensely thankful for @stephsfosterpups and the incredible community of fosters, rescues, and adopters who step up for the dogs in need at our care center,” the rescue organization expressed on their social media.
Unfortunately, Honey was in poor condition, grappling with several health issues, including infections, skin problems, and respiratory complications.
“She had just given birth to eight puppies overnight. I brought her and her little ones home, and she was in rough shape. This poor dog had two ear infections, severe skin issues, was underweight, and was suffering from a serious upper respiratory infection,” Steph detailed in an Instagram post.
Tragically, due to pneumonia, four of her puppies passed away, leaving Honey with her four remaining babies. It was a challenging journey with many ups and downs, but eventually, they all pulled through!
She’s an Incredible Mother

Within just a few weeks at Steph’s fostering home, both Honey and her puppies flourished. They grew healthier and stronger every day, and their foster mom was overjoyed.
Honey was a wonderful mother, always ensuring she was near her babies, lavishing them with love and attention!
“Honey is the most devoted mother and the sweetest dog I have ever met,” Steph remarked.

As they reached the four-week mark, Honey began to relax significantly. She formed bonds with Steph’s other foster pups and started embracing her playful side once again.
She engaged in play, raced around, and exhibited fun behaviors alongside her new friends. It was evident that she was finally enjoying life! Her worries faded away, and she blossomed into the most exuberant pup!
Honey and her puppies are on the lookout for families who can offer them abundant love and a forever home. But for now, her current foster home in California is the perfect haven!
