Upon finding a small, sick puppy left alone at a bus stop on a bustling street, the rescuers hurried to assist her.
As they approached her, the frightened little pup continued to whimper and resist their help, leaving the rescuers astonished by her sheer terror.
Her fearful and defensive demeanor led the team to believe that this little furball had faced significant hardships and neglect in her past, which made them feel deeply saddened.
The Little Puppy Receives Much-Needed Care
The condition of the puppy was heartbreaking; her skin was itchy, covered in scabs, and she had mange.
Despite her state, the kind-hearted rescuers persevered. They gently talked to her and offered her some food. It was only after showing her compassion that the little pup chose to place her trust in them.
She allowed one of the rescuers to wrap her in a blanket and hold her.
Her rescuers took her to the veterinarian, where the little fur baby, later named Sally, received urgent medical care and treatment for mange.
Betty, one of the rescuers, brought her to a shelter. There, the staff provided meals and gave her a calming bath, gently applying anti-mange cream to soothe her skin.
Sally spent her first night at the shelter trembling with fear, terrified of her surroundings.
Seeing her fright, Betty decided to take her home and foster her. The timid pup stayed close to her foster mother’s bed, curling up beside the nightstand.
As Sally struggled to settle overnight, Betty found it hard to sleep, feeling the need to comfort her.
She lavished Sally with reassurances and affection, showing her that she was never alone.
A Loving Forever Home
As time passed, the little pup began to trust her foster mother, creating a wonderful bond.
Sally was originally meant to return to the shelter, but her foster mom realized that letting go was not an option. She chose to keep her and dramatically change her life.
“…She had become so attached to me, and vice versa. I became her entire world, and I couldn’t leave her. I felt compelled to safeguard her and give her a fresh start,” shared Betty in a conversation with We Love Animals.
For Sally, trusting others remained challenging given her past experiences.
The notion that Sally had been mistreated only deepened Betty’s frustration.
Over time, through the unwavering love from her mom, Sally gradually overcame her fears. Her personality began to shine brightly as she became more sociable and trusting.
Sally eventually made a complete recovery, transforming into a confident and loving dog.
The charming dog and her mother share a deep affection for one another, with Sally often showering her with sweet kisses.
To her mother, Sally is nothing short of perfect, and she expresses her love daily.
