This Dog Was Labeled ‘Severely Reactive’, But Everything Shifted When He Met the Right Person

Date:

No matter how damaged they may appear, stray dogs are essentially love-seeking, home-longing beings, with their true beauty often hidden beneath their tough exterior.

Once they break through the walls of behavioral issues and trust, a fantastic companion is ready to join in on thrilling life experiences.

For River, daily life was a battle. This sweet boy faced misunderstanding and rejection due to his perceived “aggressiveness” until a compassionate family from the Pacific Northwest chose to step in – radically transforming his life!

An Unfortunate Beginning

Long before finding solace with Corinne’s family, River endured a harsh existence as a stray. He faced constant threats from other dogs and was perpetually on the lookout for food and shelter.

His tumultuous past caused him to become extremely reactive, presenting significant challenges on his journey toward a loving home. When rescued by Fur Bae Rescue, an organization connecting stray dogs with families in the Pacific Northwest, River finally found a family willing to embrace him.

Unfortunately, his struggles with reactiveness led to him being returned, but that’s when Corinne came in! The connection was instant when this sweet boy approached his new mom and her family.

With a joyful wagging tail, he dashed toward them and initiated playtime, a clear indication that he was meant to be part of their lives!

A Life-Changing Journey

Despite the challenges, integrating River into the family proved to be a fulfilling experience. His past was riddled with misinterpretations, as his reactiveness was often mistaken for a bad attitude. However, what he genuinely craved was a sense of safety.

With his new mother by his side, he began to decompress and learn to socialize, enjoy walks, interact with other humans, and do all the activities he’d never before had the opportunity to experience. Before long, he blossomed into a newfound dog!

“It initially felt like I was his therapist, but now it seems he’s become my therapy dog,” Corinne shared with Cuddle Buddies.

Within a few months, River transformed from being timid and withdrawn to the happiest and most lively member of the family!

He continually discovers novel ways to amuse his human companions, but his latest antics were particularly delightful!
