When Layla and Lola arrived at their local shelter, they made a promise to always support each other until they found a loving family. It didn’t take long for someone to adopt them, but sadly, their time in that new home was fleeting. The adorable sisters returned to the shelter twice more, and amidst their struggles, they realized that their only true companion in the world was each other.
Everything transformed when Humans and Animals United (HAAU) became aware of their story. Rosa Fond, the founder of this non-profit animal rescue in Florida, sprang into action, determined to ensure these sweet girls found the loving home they longed for. She raised emergency funds to rescue the pups from the shelter and tirelessly searched for a caring foster home that would take them both. Fond not only succeeded in rescuing them but transformed their lives forever.

The excitement was palpable among HAAU volunteers as they arrived at the shelter to pick up Layla and Lola. Their joy multiplied upon seeing the pups’ reactions to the rescue! “Seeing them leave the shelter that kept them safe until we arrived brings tears to our eyes. The girls have a new beginning, and this time, it will be a forever happily ever after!” shared HAAU on Facebook. The entire heartwarming moment was shared on social media, spreading the joy:
@humansandanimalsunited ❤️🐾🎉 LAYLA AND LOLA HAVE BEEN RESCUED BY HUMANS AND ANIMALS UNITED!!!! Please honor pledges via PayPal at [email protected] or via Venmo at humansandanimals-unitedinc. The girls have a new beginning and this time it will be a forever happily ever after! Seeing them leave the shelter who kept them safe until we arrived brings tears to our eyes. It was a celebration which we would like to share with all of you! Thank you for helping us save these girls! Layla and Lola are now at the vet. They have found a foster home where they will be transported to once cleared medically. We cannot thank everyone enough for yet again being part of saving these lives who need us the most! 🥺 Their Story…. 🚨‼️ RESCUE ONLY!!!!! Being Euthanized is not rescued. Shelter has been blasting for help for a while without anyone stepping up. The girls are now at Rockdale AC in Conyers GA. The owner has reclaimed them reluctantly 2 times and comes back in worse shape than before. We believe he is only reclaiming to avoid citations. Lola is 62 pounds and Layla is 65 pounds, both are heartworm negative and about 2 years old. They need to be fully vetted; they have skin issues, abscesses on the neck, and ear infections. They seem to be lab hound mixes, sweet with people and good with other dogs. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE RESCUE THESE GIRLS TO SAVE THEM??? We believe the owner won’t reclaim this time. Rockdale County GA #AC1291 ❤️🐾 Thank you all for your continued support in our rescue mission 🐾❤️ #HumansandAnimalUnited #georgia #animalrescue #rosafond #humansandanimalsunited #coralsprings #savinglives #rescuedogsoftiktok #HAAU #rockdalecounty #fosterssavelives #florida ♬ som original – Casais Perfeitos
The volunteers took Layla and Lola to a local veterinary hospital for a thorough checkup. Once the vet confirmed they were fit, they were brought to the Florida rescue to meet other animals, fulfilling their goal to stay together. HAAU emphasized the importance of keeping them bonded: “They are bonded. We would never separate them. They need each other, and it’s the only right thing to do by these girls,” as noted in a comment on Facebook.

Thanks to their charming personalities, a loving family opened their hearts to Layla and Lola. Upon arrival, the overjoyed sisters instantly warmed up to their new family! “As promised, these girls have been kept together. Fully vetted, they are settling in perfectly at their foster home,” HAAU shared on Facebook.

In time, I have no doubt that these sweet girls will discover the loving, forever home they deserve — one where they can happily thrive. For now, they are content in their foster home, receiving all the love and care from their new human family.
“They are definitely lucky girls,” HAAU noted in a Facebook comment.
