Red’s life was fairly stable while living with his owner. He was content, showing unwavering loyalty to his human companion.
Unfortunately, his loyalty was unreciprocated. One day, without warning, he found himself abandoned on the streets, turning his world upside down.
The ordeal was terrifying. While the neighbors cared for Red and wished to visit him, his owner fabricated excuses for why Red was no longer there.
Fast forward five years, a woman coincidentally crossed paths with Red and recognized him. By then, he had been fending for himself, hiding beneath metal pipes. The sight was heartbreaking, prompting her to call for assistance immediately.
Help Is On The Way

Once the woman made the call, rescuers promptly arrived and located him. They observed a mix of joy and fear in his demeanor.
Uncertain if these individuals were there to harm him, Red instinctively understood his dire need for help.
However, his fear prevailed, causing him to hide further. At this moment, the rescuer sought assistance from locals, who gladly offered their help.
With their friendly support, they successfully coaxed Red out, and he instinctively trusted them.

As he was being loaded into the vehicle, his tail began to wag, and the rescuer offered him some much-needed food; he was clearly very hungry.
He had such a gentle nature. The girl who had discovered him remembered how much he loved playing with the local children, making his current situation all the more heartbreaking.
None of that mattered now since he was on his way to a much brighter future, albeit not without obstacles.
Red’s Difficult Healing Journey

During the five turbulent years he was lost, Red endured tremendous suffering. He experienced paralysis, and veterinarians were baffled by the cause.
They diagnosed him with discitis, revealing significant damage to his vertebrae due to infections. His recovery prognosis was uncertain, prompting the need for a more capable vet.
They found one. Despite slim chances of recovery, they decided it was worth the shot. The veterinarians conducted thorough examinations.
They declared his spinal infection to be severe, leaving them unable to confidently predict his recovery.

Soon thereafter, Red’s care team dedicated themselves to helping him rehabilitate. Therapy emerged as the optimal route, one that Red was eager to pursue.
Administered fluids and a robust course of antibiotics, Red soon found joy in regular meals.
Given his traumatic past, he displayed signs of stress when overly surrounded by people, unsure of whom to trust.
This uncertainty profoundly impacted his mental health. Nevertheless, those dark days were behind him, and a brighter future was on the horizon.
He Can Finally Relax

Two months later, Red made remarkable strides in his recovery. He was starting to walk using his hind legs. Though a bit unsteady, it was a promising sign.
He remained hesitant to explore the outdoors, finding solace within the shelter walls alongside the people who showed him kindness. Perhaps he feared abandonment again if he ventured outside.
However, he would never have to worry about that again. As more time passed, Red finally graduated from the clinic. His rescuer took him on an exciting trip, filling him with joy.

The shelter team created a cozy space for him to sleep and recuperate. He will remain there until they secure his forever family.
While he has made significant progress, he still needs to continue his medications, with his rescuer ensuring he adheres to the regimen.
Ultimately, Red’s journey transformed him from an abandoned, paralyzed dog into a sweet, lovable companion ready to embrace life with someone special. Hopefully, that wish comes true for him.
