Ah, the beauty of early spring!
Nature begins to rejuvenate, gradually transforming day by day. Before you realize it, days become longer, warmer, and filled with promise.
During spring, life awakens all around us—animals, plants, and people alike.
The first spring blooms—the courageous little warriors braving the lingering chill—emerge from beneath the last remnants of snow.
And what’s this?
Is that another patch of snow?
No, it’s not snow; it’s some kind of flower, for sure!
But flowers don’t gaze back at you.
Flowers don’t tremble from the cold.
Flowers don’t plead for assistance.
One early morning, a woman from Malvern, Pennsylvania, was in for a delightful surprise.
Karen awoke that day, completely unaware she would stumble upon…
What Kind Of Flower Is That?

At first, it appeared to be an ordinary morning.
Enjoying a cup of coffee, slowly waking up, mentally mapping out her day.
Yep, Karen had everything sorted.
What she hadn’t anticipated was discovering a visitor in one of her neglected flower beds.
It couldn’t be flowers! They can’t sprout overnight.
Upon closer inspection, Karen realized this visitor was looking directly into her eyes.
It was a stray dog… shivering and cold from the chill of March.

Quickly, she bolted outside, bringing a blanket to warm up the shivering pup and a bowl of comforting chicken soup. The poor animal was completely wet and dirty, but Karen knew she couldn’t assist her alone.
She needed professional help.
Moments later, she was on the phone with Nicole Asher from Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery. Asher advised her to place more food outside to help the dog feel at ease. No abrupt movements… no sudden attempts to catch her.
The dog needed to feel secure in an unfamiliar place before she could be caught.
“Karen quietly and methodically set out food and left the area, allowing the dog to feel at ease enough to come closer,” Asher explained.
Both women hoped the pup would eventually walk into the crate Asher had ready for her.
Surprise, surprise!
This dog was exceptionally well-behaved! Asher and Karen didn’t have to wait long for the freezing pup to hop into the crate. They hurried her directly to the Buddha Rescue center to see if she had a microchip.

And indeed, she was!
Asher discovered that the dog was in a foster program with MatchDog Rescue. Her name was Ella, and she had escaped two weeks prior. What astonished everyone was the realization that Ella’s foster home was 12 miles away.
This incredible girl made the journey all the way from her foster home to Karen’s residence in Malvern.

“We were overjoyed,” Asher shared. “I quickly reached out to the contact number, and after they overcame the initial shock, there were many happy tears and joyous cries. The president of the rescue came and took her home to recover and rest after her harrowing experience. She quickly settled in and became quite the couch potato.”
Ella is flourishing! From a stray discovered beneath a bush shortly after having puppies, to a cherished household pet, her transformation has been remarkable. She experienced quite an adventure.
Now, it’s Ella’s time to unwind, relax, and embrace all the beauty that life has in store for her.
