Sweet Puppy Born Without Front Legs Finds His Forever Family Who Adores Him

Date:

Upon receiving a call regarding a baby Boxer born without legs and in need of a family, Lou immediately paused her activities to rescue the little one.

Mark, her husband, might not have grasped immediately what was happening, but once he held the puppy, he recognized their responsibility to assist this dog in growing into a robust and joyous companion.

Thus, Nubby became part of their affectionate household.

The initial night with Nubby was far from what the couple had anticipated.

“Our first night with Nubby was challenging. We were up every hour and took turns. Having twins prepared me for the night shifts,” Mark revealed to The Dodo.

Unfortunately, Nubby wasn’t in the best condition at first. However, after a trip to the ICU and a complete recovery, this tenacious puppy demonstrated that he was a natural fighter.

Once he returned home, Lou and Mark committed to ensuring his comfort and enjoyment!

“We constructed a LEGO wheelchair, and he zoomed around the floor,” he shared.

Nubby never let his disability hold him back. From the start, he was an energetic puppy, leaping and crawling everywhere, proving he could enjoy life just as much as any other dog!

Lou and Mark were so motivated by Nubby’s spirit that they did everything they could to help strengthen his legs, turning exercises into playful adventures. Gradually, Nubby learned to stand on his back legs and eventually jump!

“Nubby figured out how to launch and jump. It’s as if he’s missing nothing. He just says, ‘This is how I do it. This is my way,’” the couple expressed.

His parents eventually acquired a proper wheelchair for him, but he wasn’t a fan. They bought another one later, hoping he’d prefer it, but Nubby just didn’t enjoy how they felt.

Nonetheless, with positive reinforcement and enjoyable activities after his wheelchair workouts, Nubby occasionally didn’t mind taking it for a spin.

The Arrival of the Litter

As time passed, Nubby blossomed into the sweetest companion, always surrounded by loving humans and adorable canine siblings.

Among his furry friends was a pregnant mama dog that Lou and Mark rescued and welcomed into their home. When she gave birth to her six puppies, Nubby couldn’t have been happier!

Nubby took great pleasure in spending time with the new litter. Not only did he become the most fun older brother, but he also displayed immense care, ensuring the puppies were always safe and sound.

“Regardless of how many legs he has or where he is, he’s always happy. Just because you have a limb difference or are different in any way, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life. Nubby exemplifies that lesson daily. He never gives up… He offers hope to many,” the couple affirmed.

Wishing all the best to everyone involved!
