New York Rescuers Discover Abandoned Pup Nestled Next to Picnic Table

Date:

One summer morning, the Cuse Pit Crew (CPC), a nonprofit in Syracuse, N.Y., was unprepared for a challenging day when they learned about a senior dog, Max, left tied up in a park. This news deeply affected the team, who immediately reached out to the Syracuse Police and Dog Control to assist the ailing pup.

A Heartbreaking Discovery

The CPC, advocates for responsible Pit Bull ownership, was moved to tears upon witnessing Max’s hopeless state as he waited for rescue. Fortunately, a change was on the horizon. The Cruse Pit Crew shared on Facebook: “This morning, sweet Max was left tied to a picnic bench in Syracuse’s Schiller Park along with this note. We met Syracuse Police and Dog Control there, who then got pictures and transported Max to the emergency vet for care.”

Before taking Max to the car, they noticed a note taped to a nearby pole revealing Max’s plea: “I’m a good boy. I am 17 years old. My name is Max. My owners can’t take care of me anymore. Please help me!”

CPC worked with local authorities to find Max a temporary home where he could decompress. They felt it important to highlight that this situation could have been avoided. “Max is not the first, nor will he be the last dog abandoned in a park. We believe this could’ve been avoided if more people were aware of our services. We are not a rescue, BUT we will help problem solve with you to the best of our ability. We’ll do it without judgment because we want pet owners to feel safe coming to us for help,” they emphasized.

Everything Will Be Okay

The CPC later reported that Max was taken in by the kind folks at HumaneCNY, who found him a loving temporary home. He is receiving treatment for eye and ear infections, as well as arthritis, but he is thriving! With the proper care and nutrition, Max’s new caregivers are ensuring he gains weight and returns to good health.

With time, we are confident this sweet pup will grow strong and find a forever family, giving him the happy life he always deserved. Good luck to Max; good things are on the horizon!
