Abandoned Dog Stays Behind in Hopes of Reuniting with Her Family

Date:

Among all the regions in the U.S., Orange County, California, stands out as one of the most “pet-friendly” locales. Community members hold a deep affection for stray animals, treating them with exceptional compassion.

Every day, there are uplifting stories about rescued dogs, cats, and various other animals in this area. This time was no exception when Arturo Flores and Lou Dora, part of a cat rescue group, noticed a scared face peering out from behind a pillar.

Realizing it was not a cat but a frightened dog did not deter them from offering their assistance to this vulnerable creature.

Dumped Heartlessly

Arturo and Lou were puzzled about how this poor pup ended up in such an industrial setting until a tire shop worker in Irvine, California, shared the heartbreaking truth.

“The man who worked at [the] tire shop said a car pulled up and dumped her,” noted Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy Dog Rescue, on Facebook.

Arturo and Lou felt a pang in their hearts, especially after noticing the dog’s unwavering gaze into the distance, suggesting that she still hoped her family would return for her.

Sadly, that reunion never took place, but fortunately, these compassionate individuals were there to alleviate the dog’s suffering and provide her with a fresh start.

Finally Gave In

Determined to save the dog but unsure of how to proceed, Arturo and Lou reached out to the professionals at Logan’s Legacy Dog Rescue (LLDR) for assistance.

Upon arrival, Suzette Hall from LLDR quickly assessed the situation. Despite her best attempts to coax the frightened dog out, the pup was still too fearful to budge.

Realizing a different approach was needed, Hall set a humane trap filled with tasty treats, knowing the dog was very hungry. Eventually, the dog succumbed to the temptation.

“This baby was so hungry,” Hall remarked. “Oh man, did she lick her lips …”

Within minutes, the dog was safely inside the crate, which was now on its way to a new life.

New Chance

Hall understood that the rescue was merely the first step towards a full recovery, with many obstacles yet to overcome for Bean, the name she gave the pup.

Refusing to give up, Hall took Bean to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California. The numerous scabs on her legs and ears suggested that this poor girl had been living on her own for quite some time.

The veterinarians worked diligently to clean her wounds, and slowly, a smile began to reappear on Bean’s face. The real turning point came when she entered her new foster home—she was enveloped in love and affection, which was exactly what she needed at that moment.

“She loves to cuddle and is so sweet and thankful,” Hall shared with The Dodo. “And she loves to hug her foster family.”

Although Bean is still on her path to recovery and has yet to discover her forever home, Hall is optimistic that this brave girl will find her happy ending.

One thing is certain: she will never again be left to walk anywhere but on the softest grass available.
