It’s unfortunate that some dog owners lack proper knowledge about caring for their pets, often forgetting that dogs are emotional beings. To ensure a happy and healthy life, dogs need consistent love and affection. A pup named Harvey experienced this neglect, growing up in an unloving environment that didn’t allow him the joys of puppyhood. Fortunately, he eventually met two hoomans who would transform his life into something wonderful!
Pup Named Harvey
Before Harvey found his true home, he struggled with severe separation anxiety as a family dog. His previous owners, lacking the knowledge to manage his condition, confined him outside by chaining him, believing it was an effective solution. Harvey spent nearly a year unable to move freely before being rescued and taken to a pound in Oregon.
At the pound, a compassionate hooman noticed that among the many dogs, Harvey remained alone and quiet. “When they were in the play yard, Harvey came over and fully leaned on him. And I was like, oh yeah, you get the lean from the dog, you know that you are in,” Olivia, Harvey’s mom, shared with GeoBeats. Upon meeting Harvey, Olivia’s partner immediately felt a connection and knew this pup was meant to be theirs.
As the bond grew, Harvey became very attached to his new dad, feeling heartbroken if he left, even for a moment. Thankfully, Harvey eventually understood that his loving hooman always returns, easing his anxiety.
The first time Harvey encountered Olivia was on a date with his dad, and just as she fell for them, Harvey instantly adored her.
New Life
Once part of his new family, Harvey’s life transformed completely. He now enjoys an active lifestyle filled with adventures, never again confined or restricted. “We live in Oregon and love exploring all of it. He is out in the snow, skiing, and doing all sorts of outdoorsy dog things,” Olivia shared. Living near a river, Harvey thrives as he loves swimming and spending time in the water.
Harvey cherishes the time spent with his hoomans and has successfully moved past his painful history to develop a strong bond with them. “It has been so nice seeing him find that independence and trust and realize that when I take space away from my parents, they are still there when I come back,” Olivia reflected. Additionally, Harvey now enjoys the company of a younger furry sibling!
Perfect Home
Harvey truly struck gold with his new family. Olivia is a loving hooman who gives boundless love, care, and compassion to every animal she meets. “With any animal in my life specifically, they will receive infinite love and compassion because that’s the relationship I strive to have,” she expressed.
Moreover, Olivia acknowledges that Harvey receives extra love and care due to his past, and she feels motivated to make up for the hardships he faced as a vulnerable puppy. From the looks of this joyful dog, it’s clear that both she and her partner have succeeded in providing him a magical life.
