Much like we might feel anxious about visiting the doctor, our pets are likely just as reluctant about trips to the veterinary clinic.
This dilemma prompts those invested in our pets’ well-being to continually seek innovative ways to ease the experience in those intimidating spaces.
Veterinarians at the Alicia Pet Care Center (APCC) in California have mastered this art over the years, treating their furry patients with kindness, treats, and plenty of affection to ensure they feel comfortable.
This time, however, they faced a significant challenge when one clever canine proved to be quite the puzzle despite their best efforts.
He Outsmarted Them Every Time
When Bandit, a dog, arrived at the clinic in Mission Viejo, California, he needed to remain there for several days to receive his medication. Naturally, Bandit wasn’t thrilled about this idea.
“He gave very clear feedback about his dislike for the medicines,” Diana Gorin, APCC’s social media marketing specialist, shared with The Dodo. “He simply wouldn’t take any.”
After talking with his owner, Eric, the clinic staff opted for a reliable tactic to tackle the dilemma. They decided to use a turkey sandwich as a bait, knowing it was Bandit’s favorite.
“We even made a special trip to Target to gather the ingredients for the perfect turkey sandwich,” Gorin explained.
