Before being rescued, Roo endured a challenging life as a stray dog, full of hardships and fatigue.
Every day was a struggle; without a place to sleep, she developed serious skin issues.
Roo suffered from mange, causing her fur to become scabby. Without assistance, there wasn’t much she could do, but she remained determined.
Her fortune shifted when a group of rescuers from North Carolina spotted her and brought her to a shelter where she would be safe.
Roo’s New Foster

Upon learning about Roo’s situation, Veronica felt compelled to foster the sweet pittie and made the trip to the shelter in North Carolina to welcome her.
Her new foster mother quickly observed Roo’s unique behavior—she often crawled on the ground, which is quite unusual for dogs.
Veronica shared with The Dodo: “Initially, she was timid and shy, hesitant to make eye contact, yet her curiosity and desire for attention were evident.”
To help Roo adjust to her new normal, Veronica aimed to gradually introduce her to her foster family.
She arranged for Roo to meet the other dog, Riot, while he was in his kennel. Their interaction was limited as Veronica sought to ensure Roo’s comfort.

Additionally, she observed Roo’s eagerness to meet Riot; her tail wagged enthusiastically throughout their brief encounter, a positive sign.
Over the following days, Veronica gradually allowed them to start playing in the yard under her supervision. Although their response wasn’t immediate, she was pleased to see Roo making strides.
She remarked: “Roo had mange, which had progressed to a stage where her skin was severely scabby. She was also quite underweight.”
Due to this condition, Veronica maintained a routine of medicated baths every few days and ensured her diet was enhanced to help her gain weight.
Roo Has Transformed Completely

After several weeks, the transformation was evident. Roo was rapidly improving, and her foster mom felt elated for her.
Roo also sought out plenty of affection and cuddles from Veronica, a clear indication of her growing attachment.
Notably, this lovable pittie began forging a friendship with Riot, and they started playing together regularly.
Riot was instrumental in teaching Roo how to embrace her doggy instincts as she remained a bit apprehensive and reserved. Their bond was heartwarming.
With her joyful leaps and rooster-like sounds, Veronica found it fitting that Roo had such a unique name.

She is such a sweetheart, and all she needed was time to acclimate to her new environment. With her progress, it became time to add her to the adoption list.
Veronica remarked: “Just a few days ago, she found her forever home. Her new family adores her, and they are a perfect match.”
Although she felt its loss, Veronica was filled with joy knowing that Roo had discovered a wonderful family who would cherish her forever.
