How often do you see a plush toy moving unexpectedly in a basket?
No need to panic; it’s not sorcery or anything alarming—just an utterly amusing incident!
A wildlife expert from Kentucky, Brigette Brouillard, experienced this bizarre sight, and at first, she was taken aback until she discovered the truth!
Yeti’s Favorite Hideaway

Brigette, founder of Second Chances Wildlife Center in Louisville, Kentucky, has always had a passion for wild animals. This compassionate expert has rescued numerous animals over the years.
Her center has been operational since 2009 as a reputable place for rehabilitation and education. Since its inception, the SCWC team has dedicated itself to aiding injured, abandoned, or orphaned animals, including bats, skunks, raccoons, and squirrels.
One of their beloved permanent residents is a leucistic opossum named Yeti.

Yeti was rescued after being hit by a car. She arrived at the center as a special-needs animal, suffering from road injuries, one eye, broken jaw, and neurological complications. Since then, Yeti has received attentive care, and it seems she truly enjoys her new home!
One day, Brigette couldn’t locate Yeti because she was exceptionally good at finding hiding spots!
Then, she noticed one of the stuffed toys moving around in a basket! Upon closer inspection, she discovered Yeti nestled among the plush toys, trying to get comfortable.
“Yeti has a favorite ‘go-to’ spot when it’s her turn for some exercise. She often climbs into the baskets of Egyptian fruit bat stuffed animals. We’re quite pleased she can do this,” the SCWC team shared.

Brigette was initially stunned, convinced that Yeti couldn’t possibly reach the basket. But Yeti quickly proved her wrong!
This clever opossum has adapted so well to her surroundings that she’s become quite the entertainer, and of course, she’s also treated herself to a cozy nap!
Relishing Her Comfortable Environment

With time, Yeti’s health has markedly improved. She has gained weight, eliminated fleas and infections, and is acclimating well to her home. Due to her disabilities, Yeti is a permanent resident at the center since she can’t return to the wild.
“Given her limitations, she cannot be released back into the wild. She will enjoy her life here with the necessary special care. She loves exploring and spending time outside,” the team mentioned.
With each passing day, Yeti is thriving. She cherishes her time at the Center and enjoys the company of her friends, radiating happiness even though she’s not in her natural habitat!

Yeti has a particular fondness for fruits, and she enjoys a plentiful supply at the Center! Additionally, she often finds cozy spots to nap, whether it be in her caregivers’ shoes, under soft blankets, or recently, in a basket of toys!
She isn’t fond of being held, yet she is undoubtedly one of the most gentle residents at the Louisville rehabilitation center.
“She is very gentle but does not enjoy being held. Yeti certainly recognizes her caregivers,” they noted.
Safe and cherished, Yeti is truly experiencing the comfortable life she always deserved!
