Californian Cyclist Spots Furry Creature in the Bushes and Decides to Investigate

Date:

The life of a stray dog can change in an instant with just a bit of kindness. Simple acts, like offering food, taking them to a shelter, or giving a friendly pat, can have lasting positive impacts. Scott and Halley from California understood this well. When the chance arose to rescue a stray pup, they acted swiftly.

His Past Was A Mystery

While cycling through the forest, Scott spotted a mysterious creature approaching. Curious, he halted to investigate, only to see a black dog that quickly fled, eluding any chance of connection.

With roads closed to vehicles, Scott and Halley returned the next day to search for the pup. As they looked around, they noticed nervous movements in the bushes. Halley was quick to recognize the fearful eyes peeking out, knowing it was the same dog, still hesitant to emerge.

The couple spent time speaking gently to the dog, using tasty treats to entice him out. After some patience, he finally approached. Sweet and gentle, the pup effortlessly wrapped himself around Scott and Halley’s legs, eager for help. Fortunately, he didn’t need to plead—he was already saved, even if he didn’t realize it yet!

He Stays In The Family

Once home, the dog adapted seamlessly into the family, grateful for a cozy bed and the freedom to roam without worry. Initially uncertain about their new addition, Halley remembered that her in-laws in Colorado had been wanting a dog for a long time. What a perfect match!

After coordinating via Zoom, Halley’s family was thrilled to welcome the dog. The trip involved a 15-hour drive from California to Colorado, but it was undoubtedly worth it when his new family greeted him with excitement!

“When they saw him, they were so excited, especially his mom. His parents decided to name him Bonez. He’s warmed up to them pretty quickly,” Halley shared with The Dodo.

Now, Bonez enjoys a happy life with a spacious yard, loving humans, and an endless array of adventures. The best part? Bonez stays in the family, allowing Scott, Halley, and their dog, Patches, to visit him regularly. Once a lost stray in the forest, Bonez now has everything he could have ever wished for, all due to a little kindness.
