Date:

Thanks to the commendable actions of the New York Police Department officers, six innocent puppies were rescued in Queens.

Discovered cruelly stuffed inside a bag tied shut by a woman attempting to sell them, the puppies were in critical condition, barely able to breathe. They had been crammed into a confined space during a hot weekend and were just moments away from peril…

On Saturday afternoon, an NYPD patrol spotted a transaction occurring in front of Dollar General where a person appeared to be purchasing a puppy from a woman.

Upon eavesdropping, the officers discovered that the woman had another five puppies cramped in a small sack beside her, prompting an immediate response.

Backup was requested, and Officer Glickman soon arrived on the scene.

“I did my best to open the top of the bag and a tiny snout poked through. I couldn’t manage to fully open it, so I used my knife to cut it, and then five other puppies emerged,” Officer Glickman recounted to Fox 5 NY.

The team was astounded to find six puppies inside, all overheating, dehydrated, and struggling to breathe.

The officers quickly worked to free them from the bag, as the puppies were mere moments away from disaster.

“Let’s get these dogs out of here. It’s scorching,” one officer was heard telling in a body camera video.

Finally Safe

Once all the puppies were safe, the officers stayed to provide them with water and care. The puppies finally enjoyed fresh air and were out of immediate danger, but needed to be taken to a proper facility.

The officers contacted the ASPCA in Manhattan, who welcomed these young puppies. Although they couldn’t adopt any of them right away due to the ASPCA application process, the officers took it upon themselves to name them all.

Pinson, Mona Lisa, Faith, Red, Horton, and Sandy are now recovering safely and will each be ready for forever homes after receiving the proper care.

Meanwhile, the irresponsible individual will face charges of neglect, abuse, and causing injury to animals.

This distressing story quickly garnered attention and provoked strong reactions from dog lovers nationally. Despite the shock over such a heartless act, people are incredibly thankful for the NYPD’s heroic rescue efforts.

“Our duty is to protect and serve, and that day, we saved the lives of those puppies,” stated one officer in an interview with FOX 5 NY.

It is hoped that this courageous group of puppies will soon find loving homes where they can experience the joys of being cherished pets.
