There’s a saying that persistence pays off, and you can hardly find a better example of this than a delightful Labrador teaching it through her actions.
A Labrador puppy named Gracie, who hails from Jupiter, Florida, was just four months old when she was tasked with retrieving her dad’s newspaper. Normally, she would have found this no difficult feat. However, that day was a Sunday, and the extra weight of the newspaper posed a challenge.
Unfazed, Gracie put all her effort into ensuring her dad could catch up on the news. Ultimately, her determination bore fruit, resulting in one of the cutest videos you’ll ever see.
Daddy Was So Proud Of Her
Gracie diligently fulfilled her responsibilities, relishing the task of bringing back the daily newspaper left by the mailman in their yard.
Nonetheless, on that particular Sunday, the challenge was significantly greater, as the newspaper was loaded with advertisements, special inserts, and comics, making it nearly double the size of its usual offering.
As soon as her dad, Peter Schulz, called out, “Gracie, fetch the newspaper,” she sprang into action, racing outside to the end of the road where it was placed.
Upon attempting to retrieve the paper, Gracie realized the significant challenge she faced. Yet she remained undeterred, while her dad cheered her on from the sidelines.
“Bring it here, Gracie!” he encouraged, as the little pup fought to grasp the heavy, wrapped newspaper. “I know it’s a big one today; it’s the Sunday edition!”
After taking a step back to gather her strength, Gracie charged toward her goal again, perhaps thinking to herself, “You’re not getting away that easily!”
When she didn’t succeed this time either, Peter had to step in to help.
“Let’s try this together,” he said, reaching for the edge of the plastic covering. “Here, pull it like this.”
However, Gracie believed, “Winners don’t take shortcuts,” and once more resolved to tackle it alone. And she managed!
While she struggled with the paper’s weight, she kept pushing through. No one is perfect, after all.
In the end, Gracie achieved her goal, and undoubtedly, no one was prouder than her dad.
She Always Wanted To Be Like Big Dogs
Peter’s household has always welcomed dogs, and during this time, Gracie shared her home with her mother, Maddie, and grandma Dakota.
For years, the two experienced dogs had been the ones bringing in the morning newspaper, and now it was Gracie’s turn to take on this responsibility. She faced several obstacles, but she ultimately excelled.

We believe that Gracie now handles newspapers with ease, even on the busiest Sundays. However, it’s important to remember that achieving this took her numerous attempts, and she knows this better than anyone.
