Sometimes, timely decisions not only yield the best results but can also save lives! If not for a courageous woman, Petey, the stray pup, might not have survived that day. The little puppy was hiding under a tree in Garden Grove, California, when a passerby spotted him. However, he was too frightened to let anyone approach.
To help, the concerned passenger shared Petey’s photo on social media, prompting a kind-hearted woman to take immediate action, which ultimately became a life-saving move!
“I Knew He Wouldn’t Make It Through The Night”
It was Suzette Hall, a dedicated rescuer from Logan’s Legacy, who saw Petey’s photo and felt compelled to act. Concerned for the little pup, she knew he couldn’t defend himself, especially after learning from locals that the area was infested with coyotes.
“Poor baby thought he was safe there, but he really wasn’t with the coyotes around. I knew he wouldn’t make it through the night,” Suzette shared on her Facebook.
Anxious And Timid, Petey Needed Time To Calm Down
Upon arriving, Hall saw that Petey had been sitting in the same spot for a long time, seemingly searching for his family while trying to keep safe. The rescue mission faced challenges as Petey was far too anxious and scared to let anyone get close. Hall then devised a different approach!
She set up two humane traps filled with dog food on either side of the area where Petey was hiding, allowing him the space to come to them.
After some time, Petey cautiously entered one of the traps—he was finally safe!
“He was starving, circling my trap. He stretched his little legs as far as he could, too scared to go to the back of the trap. But then he got brave and found the courage,” wrote Suzette.
Transforming Into The Sweetest Lovebug
After some time, Petey relaxed enough to let Hall pet him, transforming him into the sweetest lovebug! Realizing it was getting late, Hall chose to spend the night in her car with Petey, planning to take him to the vet the next morning.
Suzette even shared his photo with Garden Grove Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets in hopes of finding Petey’s family, but sadly, no one came forward.
Petey was placed in foster care, where he underwent a remarkable transformation into the sweetest little pup! While waiting for his forever home, he thrived and enjoyed every moment with his foster family and new furry siblings. All it took for Petey’s happiness was one timely decision and a sprinkle of love!
