A gifted jazz pianist, Kara Mehrmann, has been entertaining audiences across the United States and internationally for numerous years, enjoying considerable success.
In addition to her performances, she serves as a full-time jazz piano teacher at Washington University in St. Louis. Kara has also collaborated with several bands, such as Dropkick the Robot and The LusterLights.
While it may appear that her rise to fame unfolded gradually due to her various accomplishments, the reality is quite different.
The pivotal moment in her journey to stardom came unexpectedly, thanks to a lively little musician brimming with enthusiasm for the art—her beloved canine companion.
Creating Art With An Unexpectedly Passionate Companion

Kara and her family have always had a passion for dogs, including a furry friend in their St. Louis home.
When Bradford, a lively West Highland White Terrier, joined their family, he seemed like just another playful pup brimming with love and eager to be showered with affection.
Yet, hidden within this dog was an extraordinary zeal for music that Kara would soon discover. Bradford proved to be the perfect match for the Mehrmann home, as he shared their family’s love for melodies.

One day, he settled on Kara’s lap while she played jazz on the piano, marking the beginning of their musical journey together. From that day on, no rehearsal was complete without their beloved B-Ford, as Kara and her husband affectionately call him.
Bradford’s joy was evident, and for Kara, his warmth and enthusiasm acted as a source of inspiration for her artistic creation.
