It’s increasingly common to encounter a stray dog needing assistance, some will follow you hoping for food or water, while others wag their tails, eager for a home. However, in this unique story, a woman was stopped by a dog for a surprising reason.
A Huge Surprise
During an errand, a woman named Mizti Brogdon came across an unusual dog in a parking lot in Oklahoma. As the president of Street Dog Rescue and Recovery, she couldn’t ignore the sight of a sad pup in need. Approaching the dog, later named Dolly, she was pleasantly surprised by her friendliness. Brogdon shared her experience with The Dodo, stating, “She came right up to me, let me pet her.” It soon became clear that Dolly was trying to communicate a need; she wanted Brogdon to follow her somewhere.
It’s Raining Puppies
Brogdon followed Dolly up a path to a cell tower, where she discovered a stunning sight: 16 puppies overflowing from behind a fallen log. Though initially hesitant, the puppies were curious about their visitor, and Brogdon marveled at the unexpected number. Realizing that many were likely from different litters, she concluded that Dolly was simply caring for them, displaying her motherly instincts. Recognizing the need for assistance, Brogdon called a friend and together, they managed to trap all the puppies and transport them to a shelter.
With so many puppies to care for, Brogdon sought help from various animal organizations. Going live on Facebook, she received a response from four different shelters: Forever Yours Dog Rescue, 405 Animal Rescue, The Fuzzy Friends Fund, and Safe Haven Animal Rescue. The puppies received standard checkups and treatment at a vet and were later placed in foster homes waiting for adoption. Meanwhile, Dolly found a loving new family and enjoys her life in a warm and caring forever home.
