Rescued from Chains: How Virginia Heroes Transformed the Life of This Pittie

Date:

Every dog deserves an owner who cherishes them and showers them with unending love. It’s only the dogs who are adored that can truly experience joy and happiness in life.

Unfortunately, some dogs fall victim to neglect and mistreatment by their owners, longing for a touch of affection.

Morty, a sweet Pit Bull, understands the pain of feeling unloved and neglected. He dreamed of cozying up with his family in their warm home in North Carolina, but instead, he was left chained and confined outdoors.

While he sat in his kennel, feeling down and despondent, he had no idea that love was just around the corner.

Morty Finds His Rescue

His fortunes changed when he was rescued by PETA, a non-profit organization.

He was later taken to Virginia Beach SPCA. When the staff encountered Morty, their hearts ached for him after hearing about the abuse he suffered.

They showered him with the love he desperately needed, bringing him comfort as he realized he was finally safe from his past. Morty was overjoyed to have kind humans around him who cared.

At that point, Andrea and her husband were eager to welcome a new dog into their lives.

“We specifically wanted a Pit Bull because we believed they were loving and loyal, and we didn’t buy into the negative stereotypes,” Andrea shared with GeoBeats Animals.

The couple visited the Virginia shelter and instantly felt a unique bond with Morty when they first laid eyes on him. His soulful brown eyes captured their hearts, confirming he was the perfect match.

They were saddened to see the scar on his neck and to learn about his previous abuse.

Morty Joins His Forever Family

After Morty settled into his new home, it was evident he needed time to adjust to living indoors. The playful pup was a bit hyperactive and chewed on a few items in the house.

Andrea and her husband showed immense patience as Morty underwent training, and over the next few months, he acclimated beautifully to his new life.

Morty adores his parents, and Andrea often feels he shares a special bond with her husband.

Whenever Morty sees his dad returning home from work, he bounds outside to greet him and leaps into his arms.

Morty is a social butterfly and loves to meet new people.

One of the first things people notice about Morty is his large, floppy ears, which his mom considers to be his best trait.

Morty’s parents have observed that he has a dislike for water and rain, believing this may be a result of being left outside in inclement weather by his previous family.

The Family Feels Fortunate to Have Morty

This lovable pup is highly attuned to his parents’ emotions, often providing comfort when they feel down.

“There are moments when I feel overwhelmed by the discrimination we face due to his breed, and one day, it hit me hard. I was in tears, and he came right up to me, as if he knew I was really upset, and that made everything better,” Andrea shared.

She is immensely grateful that Morty chose to trust them and express his affection, despite the betrayal he faced from previous owners.

“He may not have known us before, but he trusts us now, and he has shown us nothing but love. I’m incredibly thankful that he felt comfortable enough to give us a chance,” she expressed.

Morty shares updates on his Instagram account. He’s living the life he always wanted, filled with love and endless kisses from his adoring parents. His delightful spirit radiates happiness.
