It is our hope that every dog has an owner who truly cares for their happiness. Unfortunately, countless dogs find themselves abandoned and betrayed by those they trust the most – their owners.
This story centers on Mica, a sweet dog who was callously abandoned, left lying on a blanket in a ditch. Cold and hungry, she curled up in despair, praying someone would come along to rescue her.
Rescue and Recovery of Mica
Upon spotting the terrified pup shaking in the ditch, Diana, an avid animal rescuer, felt her heart break. She spoke soothingly to Mica, showering her with kisses to offer comfort and hope.
In order to prevent startling her, Diana approached slowly and gently. Eventually, she was able to secure Mica with a leash.
Diana carried Mica to her vehicle, and the nervous pup buried her face in Diana’s arms. Still trembling, Mica felt Diana’s gentle caresses, providing her with a sense of security.
Diana reached out to her friend, Samantha Dix, a fellow rescuer and founder of Street Life To The Sweet Life, who promptly agreed to foster Mica.
Along with her husband, George, Samantha fosters dogs through Lola’s Lucky Day, a non-profit that rescues animals across Houston and Dallas, Texas.
A Caring Foster Environment
When Samantha first encountered the lovable Mica, her heart was overwhelmed. The pup flaunted a stunning brindle coat and adorable white socks. After giving her a much-needed bath, her foster parents allowed her to settle in and acclimate before introducing her to their other dogs.
Initially timid, Mica responded warmly to gentle strokes and abundant affection from her foster family. Grateful for the comfort of a nurturing home, Mica eagerly showered them with sweet kisses.
Mica found a delightful way to express her happiness.
“She would just dance really fast in front of you. Her whole body wiggles. Definitely would let you know when she was happy, which was all the time,” remarked Samantha.
One of her quirkiest traits is carrying her foster parents’ shoes and rearranging them to suit her whims.
Mica Finds Her Forever Home
After spending three weeks with Samantha and George, Mica was ready for her permanent home.
Ruff Start Rescue, affiliated with Lola’s Lucky Day, provided her with an amazing forever home in Minnesota, fulfilling Mica’s dearest wish.
Now renamed Ewa, the sweet pup couldn’t be happier. She treasures her family and has become the ultimate cuddle buddy. Her new parents adore her.
We are overjoyed that Ewa has finally received the happy ending she always dreamed of.
