Heartbroken Dog Seeks Adoption to Honor Friends Lost in Hoarding Incident

Date:

Being a stray animal is undoubtedly tough, but living in a cramped house with little space, insufficient care, or even affection can be even more distressing.

Sadly, Shyla, the pup at the center of today’s tale, experienced such hardship.

Before her rescue, Shyla was part of a backyard breeding and hoarding situation with numerous other dogs. After being transported to an overcrowded shelter in Houston, she was the only one to survive the ordeal.

Her struggles didn’t cease there. Due to that same overcrowding, Shyla faced euthanasia. However, just moments before her time was up, a compassionate human intervened.

Upon learning about Shyla’s traumatic past and grim future, an advocate and dog lover stepped up to foster her.

“She was rescued just five minutes before the deadline thanks to a foster,” Chelsea Domaleski, a volunteer at the shelter, shared with The Dodo.

Regrettably, due to unexpected circumstances, Shyla’s foster had to give her up after just one month of care. Domaleski and her boyfriend have placed Shyla in a boarding facility and are currently covering the costs, but it’s not sustainable for them long-term.

Shyla now needs a loving forever home that can give her the life she deserves.

Searching for a Forever Home

Despite her challenging past, Shyla remains a delightful puppy, filled with love and vitality.

“She adores people and is incredibly affectionate and friendly. She has been socializing with several other dogs at the boarding facility, and they all get along very well. She enjoys taking walks and basking in the sunshine with her canine friends,” Domaleski remarked.

Just because Shyla didn’t start off in a nurturing environment doesn’t mean she can’t find it now! She is a loving pup who would blossom into the best companion for anyone ready to adopt her.

“She has been neglected and disappointed by humans her entire life, and now she is yearning for someone to love and cherish her as she truly deserves,” added Domaleski.

Shyla is currently receiving treatment for heartworm and is hopeful that another foster family will step up to assist her during her recovery. Once she is healed, she can actively search for her forever home.

Returning to the shelter is not a viable option, as she would likely be euthanized.

If you or anyone you know can provide a foster home for Shyla and give her the time she needs to find her dream family, please visit her Instagram for more details. Alternatively, you can contribute to her GoFundMe.
