Dogs have the incredible ability to fill our lives with unparalleled joy. However, their unwavering loyalty does not prevent them from occasionally engaging in antics that might ruin an owner’s day, all while eliciting laughter from passersby.
This was certainly the case for a playful Shih Tzu who seized a unique chance to satisfy her cravings. Despite the delightful cereals she devoured being the sweetest treats she had ever encountered, she would soon face the repercussions once her mother discovered the chaos she had created.
By the time the grooming session concluded, the pooch was barely recognizable, having been covered entirely with the remnants of her cereal box escapades.
A Messy Situation
Heather Hunt, a dog owner, had learned to expect the unexpected from her three mischievous canines. However, nothing could prepare her for the scene she encountered upon returning home one day.
Upon entering, she was greeted by a sight of chaos in the hallway: cereal strewn everywhere, alongside opened boxes of Sugar Puffs.
“I came back in from shopping and it was all over the floor everywhere. I went mad,” Hunt recounted, according to SWNS.
In her search to find her two other dogs, George and Mildred, who appeared to be unscathed, she realized her third dog, a 2-year-old Shih Tzu named Crumpet, was missing. A quick peek into her crate revealed the truth.
What she witnessed left her torn between laughter and tears: Crumpet was plastered in sticky cereal from head to paw. Despite her initial panic, Hunt scrambled to clean her up, but her efforts fell short.
“She got into two other cereal boxes too, but the sugar puff cereal is covered in honey, so it stuck to her fur like tar,” Hunt explained. “I couldn’t get them out. I tried to wet them, but it just turned them into wallpaper paste.”
Faced with this sticky predicament, the exasperated dog mom knew she needed professional help.
A Lengthy Clean-Up Session
Upon contacting a grooming salon, Hunt sought an urgent appointment. Luckily, she received a prompt response, and both she and Crumpet hurried to the salon.
When they arrived, the salon staff were astounded by Crumpet’s condition. They understood they were in for a challenging task but were dedicated to restoring Crumpet to her former glory.
“When I finally decided to take her to the groomers, it took them nearly three hours to wash her, cut all of the cereal out, and make her look like a dog again,” Hunt shared.
The effort proved to be worthwhile, as evidenced by a photo showcasing Crumpet post-grooming: her new cereal-free haircut transformed her into a totally different dog.
