When a rescuer from Nashville Dog & Cat Rescue learned about a pregnant dog wandering in a parking lot in Tennessee, she felt compelled to help. Named Megan, the rescuer found the dog searching for food, which tugged at her heartstrings.
She Was So Scared Of People

Whenever Megan tried to approach the pregnant dog, she would retreat, indicating her discomfort around people. This fear might stem from past abuse, as the dog appeared protective of her unborn puppies. Knowing that time was running out for the dog to give birth, Megan shared her worries with The Dodo: “And if something were to happen to her, nobody would know where the puppies are.” Realizing the urgency of the situation, Megan strategized her rescue mission.
Initially, she attempted to lure the frightened dog with food, but the plan didn’t work, and the dog gave birth, compelling Megan to adapt her strategy. They needed the mama dog to cooperate and lead them to her puppies. It was vital for her to maintain her strength, so Megan laid out food in areas where the dog typically foraged and set a humane trap to capture her once she returned for the food.

Eventually, hungry and desperate, the mama dog discovered the food, and Megan’s plan was set in motion. Upon successfully trapping the mama dog, they fitted her with a tracking device that would lead them to the puppies.
A Beautiful Dog Family

Megan was thrilled to see her plan come together. The mama dog was secured in the humane trap, and after attaching a tracking collar, they released her back to lead them to her puppies. The worried mother quickly returned to her litter, ensuring the rescuers could follow her to their location.

Upon locating the dog family, they discovered that the mama dog, now named Miranda, had given birth to eight healthy puppies. The rescue team quickly transported them back to the shelter in Tennessee, where they received food, water, and medical care.

After checking their health and ensuring they were well, the rescuers cared for them until they were ready for adoption. Fortunately, all eight puppies quickly found forever homes, and their mother, Miranda, was adopted as well. They were lucky to have such dedicated rescuers; thanks to Megan and the incredible staff at the shelter, these dogs are now leading happy lives.
