Stray dogs wandering lonely streets often yearn for the warmth of human connection and a safe haven. They crave the soothing touch of a human hand and the love they rightly deserve.
Once rescued and welcomed into shelters, these dogs aspire to find their forever homes, where they can snuggle with their humans and experience true happiness.
It breaks my heart to know that in many shelters, senior dogs and those with health issues often end up on euthanasia lists.
Noodle was one such pup, facing euthanasia due to his health issues and a lack of interest from potential adopters.
As he rested alone in his kennel the evening before he was to be euthanized, he was unaware that a compassionate woman was on her way to save him.
Rescue Mission: Noodle’s Story
Noodle was a gentle stray brought to a shelter in Detroit, suffering from a degenerative brain disease that caused him to faint and become unsteady.
While at the shelter, no one came forward to claim him, and he remained unadopted.
Tragically, after his stray hold expired, the vet recommended euthanasia, and it was scheduled for the following day.
Tiffany Perkins, founder of the PAWS Friend Network, a sanctuary and advocacy network for paraplegic, amputee, and senior shelter dogs, as well as providing hospice care for seniors, could not shake Noodle from her mind that night.
Unable to sleep, she became determined to rescue him the next morning.
Bonding with the New Friend
The moment Tiffany brought Noodle to her home in Detroit, love blossomed between them, and she realized he was meant to be with her. He was incredibly affectionate, and their connection was instantaneous.
Initially unsure if Noodle would need hospice care, Perkins lavished him with love, wishing to provide him with the best life possible. Noodle quickly became friends with her other dog, Luke, and the two often cuddled and consoled each other.
Since Noodle was underweight, Perkins suspected he had been living on the streets for quite some time. She started him on a special diet, and soon enough, he began gaining strength and weight.
The loving pup took every chance to shower his mom with sweet kisses.
Perkins educated herself about Noodle’s condition, learning that his fainting episodes were triggered by excitement. To create a stable environment, she ensured he had peace in his surroundings.
She lowered her bed to allow him easy access and set up a couch near the window for him and Luke to enjoy the view outside.
“Watching him take pleasure in the world from his window brings me immense joy.”
Noodle delighted in watching the rain with Tiffany and Luke, feeling safe and loved in their company.
Noodle’s Joyful Journey
This affectionate pup enjoys frequent walks and trips to the beach, where his eyes light up with joy and his smile radiates happiness as he takes in the views.
Tiffany describes Noodle as “the biggest, sweetest marshmallow,” expressing gratitude for his presence during a tough period in her life. She feels incredibly fortunate to have him by her side.
“Noodle is such a comfort to me personally… His timing and coming here was so perfect. We were grieving the loss of our previous dog, and he really helped heal us through that process. And I think it’s because he’s just so kind and so sweet and just such a such a big teddy bear,” shared Perkins.
We are overjoyed that Noodle has found a loving forever home, where he is cherished and loved as he truly deserves.
